We do chamber musicals!

Chamber musicals? Is that real musical theatre?

Absolutely!

Most conventional musical theatre is like a novel. Absolutely brilliant, but huge. Long. Requires a lot of time and resources to enjoy. And sometimes you just want a scintillating short story without all the fuss.

My shows are small. They only have one performer and a pianist! But their stories pack a punch and they can be done anywhere. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a whole musical performed at your gala? Do you have a theater with a dark week and practically no room to put on a show? Are you looking to spice up your cabaret or concert series with a show that fully invests in the genre while also telling a story? My shows are perfect for you!

Or, if you want a full evening, combine a couple shows together! Offer your audience a collection of amazing musicals to savor.

I’m Jonathon Lynch.

I’m a producer, musical theatre writer, and music director.

As a producer, I created “Bite-Sized Broadway: a Mini-Musical Podcast.” During the height of the pandemic, I collaborated with musical theatre writers from around the world to create short, fully-produced, original audio musicals starring Broadway, Hollywood, and West End talent. My team won a slew of awards (including the Vega award and Webby Honoree) and the show is in the top 1% of all downloaded podcasts.

I’m a Musical Theatre Fellow at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at the Lincoln Center for the show I composed, “The Carousel of Inevitability and Certain Foreboding.” My critically acclaimed musical, “The Baroque Cycle,” just finished its run at the New York Theatre Festival’s Winterfest (and is available to be booked on this website!). Other shows I’ve written or composed include “Peter and the Pied Piper” (Lincoln Center), “Again and Again and Again” (development winner, Unsung Musicals Co.), “Slam!” (TNNY Soundbites Finalist), and “Lunacy” (inaugural work, Overtures development workshop).

Recently, I’ve music directed “Micro-Face: The Musical” (NPR), the Daegu International Musical Festival, and “The Giant Hoax” (off-Broadway). Previously, I was the assistant music director on “Finding Neverland” (pre-Broadway workshop) and the music director/vocal arranger of “The City Club” (Minetta Lane).

I’m an alum of Northwestern University, the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Songwriting Workshop, and the Johnny Mercer Workshop. Currently, I’m a music director at AMDA and 92nd St. Y, and a member of the Theatre Now New York Songwriting Lab.

I have a history of working on very cool, original projects. Book one of my shows to see for yourself!
